This site is the Youth Recreation Division of the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Programs, a good place to find general youth recreation information for Syracuse. The Division says it “provides a wide range of drop in and registration-based recreational and educational opportunities to city youth through its operation of year-round neighborhood community centers and summer recreation programs.” The website has a list of youth sports programs on the side, and each program has its own page for current and upcoming events such as camps and clinics. This site has in-depth information on lacrosse, such as camps, tournaments, leagues, high-school teams, and local organizations. There is also information on lacrosse at the Empire State Games, a list of upcoming events and a maps/directions page.

This site is an excellent source if you’re doing a follow-up piece on a sports injury and would like to describe an injury in layperson’s terms. There is also a lot of information on how to treat sports injuries, as well as precautions to avoid sports injuries and have good sports safety. This site also has links for more information about sports injuries.

New York State Public High School Athletic Association

The NYSPHSAA says it is “is a non-profit, voluntary, educational service organization composed of public, parochial, and private schools dedicated to providing equitable and safe competition for the students of its member schools.” This site has a hall of fame, the committee minutes for the NYSPHSAA, as well as page dedicated to sports records. This site would is helpful for stories on changes/offenses of rules and policies.
