There are many special studies conducted by this organization that give greater insight into the health care industry. Plenty of links on specific ailments as well.

American Medical Informatics Association

This is a nonprofit member organization of individuals, institutions, and corporations that develop useful information technologies to improve health care. See the page devoted to public policy and legislative updates regarding patient care, public health, teaching, research, administration, and related policy. There is also a link to access the latest health industry news.

This is a scholarly website from a council affiliated with Brandeis University that discusses various issues in contemporary health care. The site contains conference materials on various topics such as retiree health benefits and states’ roles in paying for health care. This is a good starting point for the scholarly prospective and story ideas.

This website can be referred to as an encyclopedia for law in health care. For example, it covers law related to nursing facilities, hospitals, and hospice facilities. It tracks the latest news releases from state health agencies. It also gives federal statutes enacted since the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

This state-sponsored site provides many important links to information for health care providers, NY state laws and regulations on public health. The site is also updated with the latest health news from the state as well information about hospital complaints. Also, the page on programs gives a reporter an indication of state insurance plans that are available for young children and low- income families. The site also reports individuals who commit insurance fraud, as well covering basic insurance rules and regulations.

This website contains a database of each state’s insurance and Medicare information. It also has links for Medicaid spending, health care costs & budgets. This is a great resource for someone looking for data and statistics for the health care industry. The site is very user-friendly and allows users to set up data tables to compare different state’s statistics. The site has a statistical breakdown of the breakdown health insurance coverage for New York.
